SMALL PACKAGE VS. COMMON CARRIER
CHOOSE SMALL PACKAGE
If you are shipping a single package which weighs 150 lbs. or less, and your total shipment weight is 400 lbs. or less, a small package carrier is usually the best option.
CHOOSE LESS-THAN TRUCKLOAD (LTL) COMMON CARRIER
If you are shipping a single package that weighs more than 150 lbs., or your total shipment weight is above 400 lbs., shipping with an LTL common carrier is usually the better option. They are generally more economical than using a small package service.
